What are the standard UK rug sizes?

Most UK rugs are a standard rectangular shape, and come in small, medium and large sizes. Our large rugs measure 200x290cm and are great for large living rooms, or the ideal size to place under a double bed. Our 160x230cm medium rugs are ideal underneath a rectangular six-person dining table, or work well as area rugs, allowing you to easily divide big rooms into different zones. Our 120x170cm small rugs are about the same size as the average two seater sofa, and work perfectly under coffee tables, or for compact spaces like bedrooms and home offices. Small rugs can also be used to enhance one area in a larger room by creating a focal point. Other than these standard sizes, there are also runner rugs - are longer, thinner styles, perfectly suited to hallways, smaller bedrooms or galley style kitchens.

What are the different types of rugs?

Flat weave rugs are practical and easy to clean, hard wearing, and tend to be available in a wider variety of patterns and colours. They are suited to higher traffic areas such as living areas, hallways, and dining rooms. Our deep pile or shaggy rugs feel very luxurious and fluffy, are great for adding texture to cosy bedrooms, and come in a variety of colours to suit any decor style.

What colour rug should I choose?

When choosing an area rug, opt for a colour and style that complements the whole space. Opt for a neutral rug to maintain a calm and cohesive space. Grey rugs are very popular as this classic neutral shade goes with many decor styles, and green rugs are a great way to add a nod to natural elements in your space. Alternatively, you can also make a statement with a rug - adding a textural contrast, pattern or a pop of colour can create a focal point for your living space.

What is the best type of rug for a living room?

For busy living rooms, usually filled with energetic children or pets, we recommend a flat weave rug for practicality - they’re easier to clean, and more hardwearing, making them great for chaotic family life! On the other hand, if your living room is more of a quiet, cosy, zen space - then a deep pile rug can help to cushion noise and add warmth to your room.

What is the best rug for outside?

If you’re planning on using a rug outdoors, choose a rug that’s designed for the job. Our indoor outdoor rugs are versatile and practical pieces that work across different spaces. These durable rugs come in an easy to clean flat weave and work just as well indoors as they do outdoors. They’re a simple way to bring luxury design to your patio and come in a variety of sizes and styles.

Can outdoor rugs be left outside?

Weather resistant, durable and stylish, our collection of outdoor rugs can withstand a range of conditions making them perfect for any space. They can cope with most things the British weather has to throw at them - so ideal whether you’re looking to pretty up your patio or make a feature of your balcony.
